CHANGING FOCUS COVER ART

Les Byerley, the fabulous artist behind the covers for Changing Times and Changing Hearts has done it again! For your viewing pleasure, here’s the cover of Changing Focus.

Reluctant to take up his duty as Alpha, Micah Keeps Vigil has no hesitation about what he wants in a mate. A strong, intelligent, passionate and, most importantly, shifter female. He knows he’s found her in photojournalist, Olivia Decatur.

Olivia has come to Micah’s lodge to write about winter sports. She isn’t expecting a gorgeous man who encourages her wilder nature. She really isn’t expecting a sizzling erotic encounter in her room or the steam they generate in the sauna.

There’s a big obstacle to them being together: Olivia isn’t aware she’s a shifter. She believes her vivid dreams are just that—dreams—and that her blackouts can be controlled with medication. There’s no way she’s been running through the woods on four feet!

Micah has to convince Olivia to accept herself—paws and all—or lose her forever. When they come together, they generate enough heat to melt the snow around the lodge. Can their passion overcome Olivia’s reluctance to let go of her wilder side?

A Little Taste of Wisconsin!

Olivia Decator, heroine of Changing Focus is used to seeing things in a different way since she is looking through a camera lens. To say that Alex Jordan’s view of the world is different would not be an exaggeration. Mr. Jordan is the man behind the Wisconsin attraction known as The House on the Rock.

His belief that sight and sound stimulated the senses is evident in every part of this attraction. From the music machines to the suits of armor to the most unique carousel ever…you’ll be inundated with things you’ve never seen before and some you would never have thought of.

The Eternity Room is definitely for the ‘brave at heart,’ and definitely NOT for anyone afraid of heights. Check these images out.

Things You've Got To See!

Romanticon 2009 is going to feature a lounge where you can hang out. Part of the ongoing entertainment will be book videos. Here is a peek at Changing Times's video I will have going.

I'd really love it if you would share this with your friends! You can see the other one on my YouTube channel.

Escape to...Mission:Wolf

Mission:Wolf is a Colorado-based organization whose focus is on education. Based in Westcliffe, CO, Mission:Wolf has been taking the Wolf bus to other states for eighteen years in an effort to show the public what happens to a neglected or homeless pet wolf or wolf dog. This is an expensive project. You can donate to their efforts by going to their website.

On that site, they state the following:

The Mission:Wolf refuge serves as an example that illustrates the mistakes of humankind. Ultimately, Mission:Wolf is a jail for creatures that belong in the wild. Our hope is that, when the wolves at the refuge have lived out their lives, their teachings will live on. By then, we hope to have reached enough people through education that there are no more captive wolves left for us to take in. We will then be able to take down the fences, haul out most of the buildings, and Mission:Wolf will become a nature preserve where people can come to see wild wolves.

In Changing Focus, book three of Lusting Wild, Micah talks about the wild wolves on his property as well as the wolves who run above the border in Canada. The International Wolf Center in Ely, MN helped as part of the inspiration for Micah's Wisconsin setting when one half of Marilu took a Girl Scout troop there. In my world, wolves are not in the same jeopardy that they are in our real world. I hope you will visit Mission:Wolf as well as the International Wolf Center to learn about ways to help this noble, beautiful animal.

RECIPE TIME ...

In honor of the luscious Les Byerley cover shown above, instead of sharing a Jambayala recipe with you as mentioned in the last newsletter, I’m going to give you Micah’s recipe for Venison Stew. No venison in your freezer? You can certainly substitute beef and even a lean cut of pork for the venison, che`

Micah says, “I’ve made this in big batches and frozen it for later use. It’s great on those cold winter evenings after a midnight run.”

    Micah’s Venison Stew
  • 3 stalks of celery, diced
  • 1/2 C chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 TBS chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 TBS vegetable oil
  • 2 LBS venison stew meat
  • Salt, pepper, oregano, and basil to taste
  • 1 C tomato sauce
  • 1/2 C dry red wine
  • 1/2 C water

Place celery, onion, garlic and parsley in a slow cooker on low heat. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium high heat. Brown the venison well. Add the meat to the slow cooker and season to taste with salt, pepper, oregano and basil. Pour in the tomato sauce, red wine and water. Cook over low heat for 7-10 hours until flavors are well blended and meat is tender.

Olivia still insists that Micah serve this with a green salad and some biscuits. She says, "I may be a carnivore, but I still like my salads!"

Forward this email to a friend.
